Liner notes, as it were:
This is becoming my primary account, I daresay. I'm doing pointless journals on here and everything and I check it regularly, and, like, participate. But I shan't let ~
jerseynoland die!

I
won't. I need it for hosting resources for
coffeeebreak on livejournal, and for
#PotterShare stuff in scraps, and for all manner of other crazinesses. I just never check the messages anymore unless they're comments or faves or look really important generally. And having so many messages stresses me out. BUT I don't want to delete my watch list because I feel bad. Ah, well. I'll just...avert my eyes. Sigh.

Thus follows a rather silly update about music.
I have gotten a lot of good music in my life recently! Better than what I usually have. I think I'll do some reviewing.
Bedouin Soundclash: Sounding a Mosaic

Aaah, this is my new favorite band. They are so much fun. If you weren't paying attention, you'd probably think it was Bob Marley...they're sort of reggae, just really chill and amazing. They could only be more perfect for my mood right now if it was summer. No real ballads and nothing too loud, and their songs all sound pretty different. The guitar hooks are great and the rhythm and beat is phenomenal, and Jay Malinowski's voice is so relaxing. The harmonies are really pretty and they're generally a great, calm listen, but not boring and not too quiet. Fave song: "When The Night Feels My Song." This journal's title is also from a song by them. Aaah, so appropriate.

Thirsty Merc: First Work - EP

A fun, randomly Australian rock band I discovered with
Pandora a month or so ago. They broke up a few years back, but I downloaded what they had on iTunes (just an EP, not their only full album, unfortunately) and they too are really fun summery music. A lot more mainstream and a lot less original than Bedouin, but no less fun and relaxing. They're a lot louder, like most mainstream rock is, but not overwhelmingly or headache-ly or in a very hardcore kind of way. Their songs are really catchy and the lyrics are very cute. The song I have the video for, "In the Summertime," is almost upsetting in how much it makes me want summer to come now. Sigh.
Regina Spektor: Begin to Hope

I used to be really into Rilo Kiley, but it was just a phase. Her voice was just too weak compared to the instrumentals they were trying to do and I got bored with it. Regina Spektor, on the other hand, knows how to pair her sort of weird, indie rock chick voice with the right balance of instrumentals and strength, or lack thereof, of beat, lyrics, loudness, etc. I love the songs "Fidelity" and "That Time," because the vocal patterns and hooks and nuances she uses are really original and engaging, which is refreshing, especially for a ragingly indie female vocalist. I don't think I'll listen to the album on repeat for a very long time like I do sometimes with new CDs, as it can get a little too quiet and reedy after a while; even on the non-ballads or "fast" or "loud" songs, her voice can wimp out a little too much and become boring or sleepy. But she's another one that I'm in the perfect mood for right now.
Other things I'm listening to right now:
- Bob Dylan: Blonde on Blonde
- Jack Johson: In Between Dreams
- The Red Hot Chili Peppers (lots of albums...I have Stadium Arcadium, By the Way, Californiacation, Blood Sugar Sex Magik and another mix of classics from a friend.)
- Dar Williams: End of the Summer
- Norah Jones: Come Away With Me
And so much more!
I love writing music reviews. There will be more in the future. WATCH OUT!
OMG - It was snowing earlier says my friend?!?!?!?! YES!!!! Everything about my life is so good right now! Ohh, I'm so happy.

! That's me! YAY! Everything is great! I love you!
